Well, the first Transformers toys were originally piloted Japanese mecha robot toys, and so everyone kinda had stylized samurai battle helmets. It’s why Optimus Prime had pointy ears.
Plus, in-universe, they’re perpetually at war, so they probably all have helmets for the same reason B.D. did.
Megatron, however, wears his helmet to conceal his super-flowy metal locks until he can unfurl them at dramatic moments.

I just pictured Megs with maracas instead of rattlesnake tail and then it made me think of that one picture of two characters about to kiss and look awkward cause the third character has a stereotypical Mexican mustache and maracas and the weirdest suggestive grin/smirk/open happy mouth??
