We mourn. We remember. We stand with the LGBTQ community against hate and violence.
I remember when I was watching the news and I watched it go down. I was so terrified for my own life despite being on the opposite side of the country. And this happened a mere three months before I came out to my family that I’m Bisexual. I was so afraid something like that would happen to me if I came out, so the original plan so to keep my sexuality a secret for as long as I could (that eventually changed though). My fear was increased because I’m in Utah, a very Mormon state and despite the large LGBTQ+ community and the Pride Fesitval in SLC, there are still a lot of people that hate our community in my state. I don’t care about that most of the time now days, but I still get on edge.
